Final Portrait is a 2017 British-American drama film written and directed by Stanley Tucci. The film is based on the story of unconventional friendship between American writer James Lord and art-lover Alberto Giacometti. Set in 1964, when Lord is on a short trip to Paris, his friend Alberto Giacometti asked him to sit for a portrait. Giacometti promises Lord that the process will take only a few days and so Lord agrees -ultimately wondering "how much longer can it go on like this?". This film highlights the artistic process as it gradually turns exhilarating, exasperating and bewildering, when the writer questions himself whether the gift of a great artist (Giacometti) is a blessing or a curse.
